The Oberammergau Passion Play

Oberammergau Passion PlayDER Touristic & Incentive Munich has been the distribution agent for the arrangements of the Oberammergau Passion Play since 1950.

Every ten years the performances draw worldwide attention to the village of wood carvers at the foot of the Alps. Every ten years the Passion is performed at this place in Upper Bavaria.

From 15 May to 3 October 2010 more than 2000 inhabitants of Oberammergau will go on stage, directed by Christian Stueckl, the director of the Münchner Volkstheater. About half a million visitors are expected from all over the world.

Again in 2010 the inhabitants of Oberammergau will show that the Passion Play has kept its significance for 376 years and will again make it a unique cultural event.

Information regarding the Passion Play 2010

  • In 2010 the Passion Play will be performed between 15 May and 3 October in Oberammergau.
  • The opening show will be on Saturday, 15 May 2010.
  • The final show is planned for 3 October 2010.
  • The Passion Play will be presented on 102 days.
  • For the first time in 2010 the performance will begin in the afternoon . The second part will follow after the intermission and last into the evening.
  • The first part starts at 2:30 pm and ends at 5 pm.
  • The second part starts at 8 pm and ends at 10:30 pm.
  • In 2010 the community of Oberammergau will have performed the play for the 41st time.
  • The Passion-Theater Oberammergau has 4.720 seats.
  • Worldwide a total of 500.000 tickets are offered

Offers for groups or individuals: 1 night Oberammergau or surroundings

An arrangement with one overnight stay is offered for a performance on Friday. The guests arrive on Friday morning until 2 pm. Then they are served a brunch or lunch at their place of accommodation. In case they are not staying in Oberammergau itself they will go to the Passion-theater in Oberammergau after the meal.

Offers for groups or individuals: 2 nights Oberammergau or surroundings

An arrangement with two overnight stays is planned for the performances on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday as well as on Saturday, 2 October. The guests arrive the day before the respective performance and leave after breakfast on the day after the next.
